In this article, the authors’ main point is that students should participate in extracurricular activities because they are very beneficial. Studies have shown that students who are involved in extracurricular are more likely to have a higher grade point average, stronger sense of self and greater feeling of belonging with their peers. Also, students are more apt to enroll in more rigorous courses. Other benefits include students being less likely to drop out of school, experiment with drugs and make life-altering choices.
I agree with this author’s opinion that should students get involved in extracurricular activities. I think it keeps students busy and is a good way to keep them off the streets. They can also help a student with his or her social skills because the activities allow them to interact with students and to make friends.

Part of this article discusses the reasoning in choosing extracurricular activities. One study showed that students become more involved in extracurricular activities when they are not being challenged in the classroom. “Some adolescents experience such emotional satisfaction and enjoyment from the activity that it becomes central to their identity and they pursue the area as a career”. They also use extracurricular activities to find friends and have a sense of closeness to their school. Time management and other skills have also helped some students.
I completely agree with this author’s opinion on extracurricular activities and their effect on students. With students being so busy with school work and the activities, they do help them have better time management skills because they need to plan out their day more to make sure they can get all of their work done. I know that I personally was not being challenged in one of my math classes, so I got involved in a club outside of the classroom that challenged me more. So I agree with this author’s outlook on activities.

This article discusses the positive effects of joining extracurricular activities. Those effects can be particularly important for students who belong to ethnic minorities, students with disabilities, and students at risk of dropping out of school. It can lead to higher academic achievement and allows students to interact with peers better. The joining of extracurricular activities also plays a role in stopping many students from dropping out of school because of the activities he/she is involved in.
I think that it is important for everyone to be involved in extracurricular activities, not just mainly people of ethnic minorities and people with disabilities. It is good for everyone to get involved in. It helps develop skills that are often needed and used throughout a person’s life.

This article has a different outlook on extracurricular activities. The author of this article believes that joining too many clubs can be distracting and overwhelming. She believes that being involved in too many of the activities can be very tricky. However, with time management it can all work out.
In my own personal experiences, I know that when I was involved in too many extracurricular activities that sometimes my schoolwork did not get done. I was too busy focusing on my activities and not my work, so I did not do my work. However, with the right time management I was able to get it done.

This article focuses on 5 major effects of joining extracurricular activities. They are: academics, character building, life skills, helps students at risk of failing out of school, and social reasons. Students involved in more activities generally have better grades. The activities also allow a student to build better character and make more friends because he/she is surrounded by more people. For students who are at risk of failing out of school, the activities can help the student stay in school and get on track.
All of the things discussed in this article seem completely true for reasons to join extracurricular activities. All of these reasons play a major role in student’s experiences in school and the things that he or she goes through throughout school.
